In early 2025 Taco Bell took a risk and debuted crispy tortilla chip-coated chicken nuggets — a first for the brand. Sure the surprising offering garnered the odd squirrel meat accusation, but in general they were met with rabid demand and sold out almost immediately, so Taco Bell decided to bring them back. But with their limited time offer now becoming a menu staple, Taco Bell was faced with a question — wait, are we a chicken place now? Cue the brand identity crisis.
